A tribute to the first cell phone. The Brick

Ok, it had a real name. The Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, designed in 1984 by Rudy Krolopp for the fire sale price of $3,995. The brick was a loving name for its size and shape, and there was nothing wrong with placing it in your pant's pocket. It was a great new way to show the world your cellular "package". Too bad it took an additional 10 years before this phone became available.

Thank you first cell phone for sterilizing the early adopters and for providing us with many years of buggy software and brain tumors.
